Angel Heart Success Stories – Katrīna

Apr 20, 2022

ALA continues its partnership with the Angel Heart Society, whose mission is to financially support motivated, talented, hardworking children and young adults in low-income families in rural areas of Latvia.

Katrīna Šumska is studying in the 9th grade of Priežmala Primary School. From an early age, she has been fascinated by everything related to botany and especially plant sprouting. Katrina and her mother live in a country house, where she can experiment with different varieties of plants by growing them in her garden beds. At present, Katrīna is more focused on growing vegetables and flowers. With the onset of warmer weather, a greenhouse will be set up, where all the seedlings she has grown can be planted. Pumpkin seeds are being experimented with in cotton wool discs and the first pumpkins have sprouted. She also wants to try growing watermelons. Katrina would like to take courses in agronomy to develop her skills in obtaining a good, high-quality harvest. She wants to increase the production of plants and vegetables so that they can be sold, thus generating additional income for her family. We invite you to join us in supporting the young, future Latvian agronomist.
