Board Resolutions

Resolution Nr. 1
The ALA Board decides to initiate planning the ALA 71st Congress in Boston on October 20-23, 2022, if that weekend works for the Boston Latvians.

Resolution Nr. 2
The ALA Board decides to set up a work group to standardize the guidelines and the necessary grant request form to apply for ALA donations and funding. The work group participants will be V. Grinbega, E. Freimane, D. Karklins, A. Grīviņa, T. Žagare-Vītiņa, and M. Gudra. The work group will present the guidelines at the next board meeting.

Resolution Nr. 3
The ALA Board accepts the financial report dated November 30, 2021.

Resolution Nr. 4
The ALA Board decides to add $131,213.82 to the Century Bequest Fund; the amount includes $70,000 from Aina Lidens, $31,610.95 from Gunārs Gozītis and $29,602.87 from Veronica Nightingale, all received before November 30, 2021.

Resolution Nr. 5
Continuation of Resolution Nr. 8 of August 2021.
The ALA Board expresses its thanks to Līga Ejupe for her offer to begin the preparations for the 2022 Pavadi Vasaru Latvijā (PVL) program, and instructs M. Gudra and T. Žagare-Vītiņa to finalize the job description for a new employee to coordinate the travel and educational programs. The new job description will be sent immediately to L. Ejupe and announced to the public as necessary.

Resolution Nr. 6
The ALA Board decides plans to hold the winter board meeting on March 4-6th, 2022, in Northern California. The meeting will begin early Friday afternoon. If the pandemic situation changes, the meeting will be held virtually.

Resolution Nr. 8
The ALA Board supports Martins Andersons as the ALA candidate for the PBLA vice president position.

Resolution Nr. 9
The ALA Board approves the minutes of the October meeting (forgotten during meeting).

Resolution Nr. 10
The ALA Board decides to allocate $5,000 to host a 2×2 camp in Minnesota in June 2022.  $3,300 would be covered by the remaining funds in the $70,000 allocated to support Latvian camps in the U.S. in recognition of the ALA anniversary.  $1700 covered by the 2021 Education Office Budget.

Resolution Nr. 11
The ALA Board approves up to $5,000 in scholarships for the 2×2 camp in the U.S. in June 2022 for young people living in America.  Applying for scholarships would be done through the Education Office, each scholarship would be no more than $400 of the $490 camp registration fee.  The deadline for applying for scholarships is May 21st. Scholarship candidates shall be reviewed and accepted by the Scholarship Commission.  The scholarships awarded shall be paid to the camp organizers.

Resolution Nr. 12
The ALA board approves up to $5,000 in scholarships for a 2×2 camp in Ireland in August 2022 for young people living in America. Applying for scholarships will be done through the Education Office, each scholarship would be no more than 280 euros (approx. $315 on January 24) of the 350 euro (approx. $400 on January 24) camp participation fee.  The deadline for applying for scholarships is 1 month before the start of the camp. Scholarship candidates shall be reviewed and approved by the Scholarship Commission.  The scholarships awarded shall be paid to the camp organizers.

Resolution Nr. 13
The ALA Board adopts a new project application process. Project applications arriving after January 1st, 2022, are subject to the new application process. The Board approves Valda Grinbergs, Elisa Freimanis, Tanja Žagaris-Vītins, Anita Grīviņs, and Diana Karklins as the Project application commission members for 2021-2022.

Resolution Nr. 14
The ALA Board approves the following members of the Scholarship commission for  2021-2022: Elisa Freimanis (Chair), Anita Grīviņs, Kaija Petrovskis, Valda Grinbergs, Diāna Karklins.

Resolution Nr. 15
The ALA Board decides to donate $1,000.00 to support Ukraine through Ziedot.lv.
