U.S. Latvian School Statistics

Apr 26, 2024

In the month of January, data on school families was collected. School leaders were asked to answer questions about the number of students and teachers, about the school’s critical issues, about the students’ language level. School data is collected so that the ALA Office of Education can better and more efficiently help schools, seek support for them both in the US and in Latvia. Not all schools were able to respond to the statistical survey in time, so the student numbers are always variable. We can be happy that after a big drop during the pandemic, the number of students has stabilized, and we can hope for a positive trend in the future.

Sometimes you have to step back and look at such data with a historical perspective. Indeed, it is admirable that most of our schools survive in spite of the changes and difficulties that have plagued us, and not only survive, but have existed for more than 70 years! For this, many thanks to the staff of schools and camps, who work tirelessly to raise Latvian children in the US.
