Angel Heart Society Success Stories

RITUMS

ALA has started a partnership with the Angel Heart Society, whose mission is to financially support motivated, talented, hardworking children and young adults in low-income families in rural areas of Latvia.

Ritums Lejnieks is the only brother in a family of five children. He has four sisters Maija Līva (4 years old), Māra Līga (6 years old), Madara Laima (9 years old) and older sister Marta (16 years old). The family lives in Platone township “Skudra”. The mother is the sole caretaker. The children are a great support, always helping the single mother with housework. The responsibilities of the eleven-year-old Ritums include bringing in firewood and heating the house.

Ritums is in the 5th grade of the Platone branch of Vircava Elementary School.

The biggest passion of the Lejnieki family is music – Ritums and his older sister sing in the choir group “Asni”. From the age of five, Ritums has sung in the children’s vocal ensemble “Ķipari”,  at the Lielvircava Cultural Center and he has successfully participated in various musical competitions. The family likes to attend all the free cultural events in their township and Jelgava.

In the future, Ritums hopes to become a stage artist himself, who would definitely organize free concerts for large, low-income families.

Given the current situation with national restrictions, attending concerts and performing will have to be postponed for a while, but in order for Ritums not to lose his desire for musical development, we invite you to support the boy’s music lessons online with a professional musician. We look forward to beautiful musical performances from Ritums and his family!
