Angel Heart Society Success Stories: Miķelis

May 18, 2021

ALA Support & Aid to Latvia Office continues its partnership with the Angel Heart Society, whose mission is to financially support motivated, talented, hardworking children and young adults in low-income families in rural areas of Latvia.

Miķelis Siliņš is one of three children from a musical, creative, and active family. He is a 14-year-old 7th grade student of Aloja Auseklis Middle School.  At the age of 7, Miķelis overcame a serious illness, which has motivated him even more to fulfill his dreams. Teachers describe Miķelis as a curious, diligent, and conscientious student. Mikelis likes to sing, play the saxophone, and likes to study subjects like mathematics. His long-term goal is to study engineering. Miķelis is passionate about playing the saxophone. While attending The Aloja School of Music and Art, he plays the saxophone, sings in an ensemble and the school choir. Miķelis would like to buy a saxophone this year after graduating from the music school. He currently rents the instrument from the school, which must be returned upon graduation. Miķelis is saving his hard-earned money for a new instrument. In the spring, he earns by working at a farm, driving a tractor. With your support, together with The Angel Heart Society, we can help Miķelis purchase the coveted saxophone.
