ALA Support & Aid to Latvia Office continues its partnership with the Angel Heart Society, whose mission is to financially support motivated, talented, hardworking children and young adults in low-income families in rural areas of Latvia.
Mērija Daniela Šijānova is a 17-year-old girl from Vangaži, whose dream is to become an actress. Mērija is currently studying to be a customer service specialist at Riga State Technical High School. After graduating from high school, she wants to study acting. Unfortunately, due to finances she cannot attend acting courses. At the age of 9, Mērija Daniela, her mother and little sister moved to the countryside. There she had the opportunity to participate in the school theater for 6 years. In the winter of 2018, Mērija received a small role in director Dāvis Sīmanis’ feature film “Year before the War”, the plot of which is based on a historical thriller about a young Pēteris Mālderis, one of the most mysterious Latvians of the 20th century. After filming, Mērija became even more convinced that acting was not just a passion, but a desire to pursue acting as a career. Their mother is the sole provider. She takes care of both daughters despite her poor health. At the moment, Mērija Daniela does not work, because of her studies, and she has to take care of her younger sister while her mother is working. However, Mary is convinced that despite her difficulties, she will reach her goal. Mērija Daniela plans to any donated money, to attend acting classes.
