The members of the ALA board made presentations about their activities for the first year quarter at the spring board meeting in Milwaukee on March 24-26. Work is continuing for all offices of the board – Education, Culture, Information, Public Affairs, Support & Aid to Latvia, Educational Programs, Membership and Fundraising, as well as Sports. The breadth of ALA activities is, as always extensive, and there is no shortage of topics to discuss at the board meeting!
We also had several virtual participants in the meeting. The WFFL president Pēteris Blumbergs also participated virtually and gave a report about recent news and upcoming events in Latvia this summer. The Latvian Ambassador to the U.S., Māris Selga, and his second-in-command Jānis Beķeris reported about the embassy’s current events. The managing director for the Joint Baltic American National Committee, Karl Altau, also reported about upcoming activities.
