Today, October 13, PBLA Chair Pēteris Blumbergs sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump expressing the concerns of the World Federation of Free Latvians (PBLA) and the American Latvian Association (ALA) regarding the easing of U.S. sanctions on Russian diesel fuel, the planned invitation to the Russian president to attend the G20 Summit in Florida at the end of the year, and urging the U.S. president to continue supporting Ukraine by increasing pressure on Russia.
In their letter, the leaders of PBLA and ALA call on the U.S. president to revoke the issued license and terminate the agreement to import Russian diesel fuel, restore the full force of U.S. sanctions on Russian energy imports, withdraw the invitation to the Russian president to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit, and strengthen coordinated support for Ukraine by providing military assistance to enable it to defend its sovereignty and protect its people.
