Feb 19, 2020

On February 18, World Federation of Free Latvians representatives met with the speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, President of Latvia Egils Levits, and Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš to discuss diaspora policies. On February 19, they met with Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks, as well as Minister of Regional Development Juris Pūce.

WFFL vice-chair and ALA vice president Mārtiņš Andersons informed the prime minister about WFFL work to help strengthen Latvia’s national security and economic development. Also discussed was ALA’s work in Washington, in particular strengthening the Baltic Caucus in the U.S. Congress. K. Kariņš emphasized that ALA has a “golden role” in the work of diaspora organizations, because the strategic partnership with the U.S. has always been and always will be strong. He also expressed his interest in participating in a WFFL or ALA event in the future.
