ALA Meetings with Michigan Representatives

Mar 07, 2020

This weekend the ALA board is meeting for its quarterly board meeting in Michigan. On Friday, March 6, at the St. Paul Latvian Lutheran Church, the ALA board, along with the Latvian Ambassador to the U.S. Māris Selga and honorary consul Andris Lācis, met for a business lunch with representatives of the Michigan National Guard, including Major General Paul Rodgers. Friday morning a group of Michigan Latvians also met with Rep. Elissa Slotkin and later in the afternoon, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer found time in her busy schedule to meet with Latvian representatives in Detroit.

Yesterday evening ALA representatives spent with the local Latvian community, thank you to the Detroit Latvians and, in particular, Liga Jekabsone, for their hospitality!

Saturday evening the ALA board will participate in a long-standing tradition, the Kalpaka ball, organized by the Detroit Sorority/Fraternity Association and Jana Abolina.
