ALA valde tiekas Vašingtonā, DC

Kamēr 2023. gads straujiem soļiem tuvojas noslēgumam, ALA valdes darbības gads ir tikai pašā sākuma posmā. Decembra sākumā no 1. līdz 3. datumam ALA valdes locekļi sabrauca uz otro ALA darbības gada valdes sēdi Vašingtonā, DC. Pirmā jaunievēlētās valdes sēde tika noturēta tieši uzreiz pēc ALA 72. kongresa oktobrī, kurā tika pārrunāta ALA valdes struktūra un apstiprināti jaunie komisijas un darba grupu sastāvi. Decembra sēdi vadīja ALA priekšsēdis Mārtiņš Andersons un tajā piedalījās Latvijas vēstnieks ASV Māris Selga, viņa vietnieks Jānis Beķeris, PBLA priekšsēdis Pēteris Blumbergs, kā arī pārējie valdes locekļi. Izglītojošo programmu vadītāja savu ziņojumu ziņoja attālināti. Arī Apvienotās baltiešu komitejas (angliski JBANC) priekšsēdis Karl Altau dalījās ar saviem jaunumiem attiecībā par pilsoniskās līdzdalības sadarbību ar ALA un citām ASV baltiešu organizācijām. Nākamā valdes sēde plānota 2024. gada martā.

ALA kultūras nozares vadītāja tiekas ar savām kolēģēm

2023. gada 22. novembrī Zoom sanāksmē tikās kultūras jomu vadītajās no dažādam pasaules malām - Renāte Albrehta no Brazīlijas, Agra Vāgnere no Kanādas, ELA kultūras referente Andra Baltmane un sanāksmes rosinātāja, Amerikas Latviešu apvienības Kultūras nozares vadītāja Valda Grinberga. Sarunā tika apspriestas kultūras aktivitātes dažādās pasaules valstīs. Notika viedokļu apmaiņa par 2023. gada svarīgāko kultūras notikumu rīkošanas pieredzi, par tendencēm un izaicinājumiem finansējuma piesaistīšanas projektu pārvaldīšanā un nākotnes plāniem. Šāda konsultatīva tikšanās kultūras jomas vadītājām dažādos kontinentos un apvienībās ir lielisks pamats pieredzes un informācijas apmaiņai, ka arī – ideju radīšanai un īstenošanai. ALA priekšsēdis pārstāv ALA šī gada pēdējā Mini Spotlight vebinārā

Šī gada pēdējā Mini Spotlight vebinārā, kurš notika 6. decembrī, piedalījās arī ALA priekšsēdis Martiņš Andersons. Savā prezentācijā Mārtiņš informēja par ALA jaunizveidotās ekonomikas nozares darbību, lai stiprinātu un veicinātu ekonomisko attīstību Latvijā. Pilnu prezentāciju variet noskatīties šeit.

SIF izsludina projektu konkursu diasporas NVO atbalstam

Sabiedrības integrācijas fonds (SIF) izsludinājis atklātu projektu pieteikumu konkursu nevaldības organizācijām (NVO) programmas “Pilsoniskās līdzdalības veicināšanas programma diasporas NVO darbības atbalstam” ietvaros. Programmā pieejamais atbalsta finansējums diasporas līdzdalības projektu realizācijai ir 179 120 EUR. Sīkāku informāciju variet uzzināt šeit.

ALA Informācijas nozare iesaka

Amerikāņu dizainers Pols Hīsermeiers (25) iemācījās adīt otrajā klasē. Adīšana bija līdzās kā vaļasprieks līdz brīdim, kad Pols pirms dažiem gadiem uzadīja šalli aktrises Umas Tūrmanes skatuves tēlam Henrika Ibsena lugā. Tobrīd kļuva skaidrs, ka adatas un dzija viņa dzīvē varētu būt kaut kas vairāk par hobiju, Pols stāsta sarunā ar LSM.lv. ALA Board Meets in Washington, DC

While the year 2023 is fast approaching its conclusion, the ALA operating year is only in its early stages. In early December, from the 1st to the 3rd, ALA board members traveled to Washington, DC for the second ALA board meeting of the year. The first meeting of the newly elected board was held immediately after the ALA 72nd Congress in October, where the structure of the ALA board was discussed and the new composition of commissions and working groups was approved. The December meeting was chaired by ALA President Mārtiņš Andersons and attended by Latvia's Ambassador to the US Māris Selga, his deputy Jānis Beķeris, PBLA President Pēteris Blumbergs, as well as other members of the board. The head of educational programs delivered her report remotely. The Managing Director of the Joint Baltic American National Committee (JBANC) Karl Altau also shared his news regarding civic participation, cooperation with ALA and other US Baltic organizations. The next board meeting is planned for March 2024.

ALA Director of Cultural Affairs Meets with Counterparts

On November 22, 2023, Latvian leaders of the cultural field from different parts of the world met in a Zoom meeting - Renāte Albrehta from Brazil, Agra Vāgnere from Canada, ELA cultural consultant Andra Baltmane and the initiator of the meeting, Valda Grinberga, head of the Cultural Office of ALA. Cultural activities in different countries of the world were discussed in the conversation. There was an exchange of opinions on the experience of organizing the most important cultural events of 2023, on trends and challenges in the management of fundraising projects and future plans. Such a consultative meeting for leaders of the cultural field in different continents and associations is an excellent basis for the exchange of experience and information, as well as for the creation and implementation of ideas. SIF Announces Grant Application for the Support of Diaspora NGOs

The Society Integration Fund (SIF) has announced an open call for project applications for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) within the framework of the "Civil Participation Promotion Program to Support the Activities of Diaspora NGOs". The support funding available in the program for the implementation of diaspora participation projects is EUR 179,120. You can find out more details here.

ALA Information Office Recommendations

American designer Paul Hisermeier (25) learned to knit in the second grade. Knitting was on the side as a hobby until a few years ago when Paul knitted a scarf for actress Uma Thurman's stage character in Henrik Ibsen's play. At that time, it became clear that needles and yarn could be something more than a hobby in his life, Pols says in an interview with LSM.lv. Well, he is in Latvia to study our knitting traditions and write a book about them. Read the full interview in Latvian here.
